December is finally here! And it doesn’t matter if you’re a local or a tourist, Charleston is a unique place to spend this last month of the year. We’ve made a list of things you need to put on your calendar. Let us know what your favorite plan was!
This is a family-friendly event, and there will be different activities for tourists and visitors of all ages. The annual Light the Lake will happen from 5:0pm to 7:00 on Friday, December 2.
You and your family will enjoy crafts and activities, including letters to veterans, jingle-bell jewelry making, holiday photos by the carriage, ornament making, leaf rubbing, and an activity table hosted by the South Carolina Aquarium.

“The Holiday Festival of Lights” at James Island County Park is one of the most awaited light shows in Charleston during the holiday season. Enjoy thousands of twinkling lights decorating trees and making figures. This attraction is perfect for taking pictures with the whole family and getting into the Christmas spirit!
The Gateway Walk is a great option to get to know Charleston and spend some time outdoors. This informal trail goes through the graveyards and gardens of some of the most iconic places in Holy City. The weather is cooler and just perfect for taking a stroll.
The Charleston Farmers Market will be present this December in Marion Square together with some special holiday vendors! Do some Christmas gift shopping from local artisans, listen to live music and caroling, plus treat your children to free visits and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
