Mepkin Abbey
Mepkin Abbey is a community of Roman Catholic monks that was established in 1949 on the site of the historic Mepkin Plantation north of Charleston. Their beautiful gardens are open to the public daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Visitors are only allowed in the church while on guided tours at 11:30 am every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. You can buy books, tapes, candles, preserves, and creamed honey at their gift shop.
