It’s almost June! And June marks the start of summer and Caribbean American Heritage Month. Join the celebration in the Lowcountry at the Carifest, confirmed to take place from June 16 to June 18. This festival features three days of food, fun music, dance, and culture.
Every year they showcase a different Caribbean country at the cultural festival. In this year’s edition, Charleston Carifest will recognize and celebrate the Queens of the Caribbean and the beautiful Virgin Islands.
Program
Thursday, June 16 – Carifest Symposium at 5:30 in the Auditorium, Main Library, Calhoun Street.
Friday, June 17 – Annual All White Fête, venue to be announced.
Saturday, June 18 – Mardi-Gras style street parade through the streets of downtown Charleston leading to the Carnival Village at Brittle Bank Park.
Charleston Carifest Caribbean Carnival Humanitarian Effort
As part of the humanitarian efforts, Carifest is working hand in hand with the Shelton Project to collect stuffed, animals, books, soccer balls, child-size cleats, and shin guards for the children of Port Antonio, Jamaica.
