6 Fun Rainy Day Attractions In Charleston You’ll Want To Visit

You will never run out of activities in Charleston. 

It looks like the next couple of weeks will be pretty rainy in Charleston; luckily, our city is full of indoor activities that will keep you and your family entertained (and dry!). 

These are six fun rainy day activities in Charleston: 

 

1. South Carolina Aquarium 

The aquarium is home to a sea turtle rehabilitation hospital and a rare albino alligator that you will not see anywhere else. This month you will be able to enjoy Shark Week from July 10 to 18.

Hours:⏰ Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm

 

2. The Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre

Definitely of the best live shows you can find in Charleston. The live theatre features a comedy whodunit show. All of them are different because of the audience’s participation. Don’t leave without trying their appetizers and homemade desserts.

3. Gibbes Museum of Art 

This is the only museum in Charleston dedicated to visual arts. Here, you will all types of artworks by local and regional artists. The best part is that their first floor is always free, for the second and third ones you’ll have to buy a ticket.

Hours: ⏰Monday – Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00pm 

Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm

 

4. Nathaniel Russel House 

This house is recognized as one of America’s most important neoclassical structures. The interiors have been restored to their original 1808 grandeur and are surrounded by beautiful gardens. An excellent audio tour is offered.

Hours: ⏰Monday-Sunday 10:00am-5:00pm

 

5. Charleston City Market 

Spend some money at the City Market. It’s a must-see attraction for everyone that visits Charleston. Buy sweetgrass baskets, locally made gifts, and try some of the local cuisine.

Hours: ⏰Monday – Sunday 9:30 am – 5:30 pm 

 

6.  The Alley

There is no dull afternoon when you spend it with friends at a bowling alley. The Alley has eight lanes, three bars and a kitchen that will satisfy all your cravings. It’s a family-friendly place during the day, and it transforms into an adult venue after 9 pm with great music and arcade games.
