Poogan’s Porch is one of the top ten most haunted places in Charleston.
Poogans’s Porch is one of the best-known restaurants in town, but aside from their delicious menu of Lowcountry cuisine, their venue hides a dark secret.
According to many, the restaurant is haunted. Not by one but by two ghosts that have been seen by staff and patrons.
The restaurant is a Victorian home converted into a restaurant in 1976 and was named after a dog that came with the house. Poogan passed away in 1979. However, his spirit is still on the premises, as many guests have reported seeing him walk around or feeling him brush past their legs while they eat.
And this is not the only ghost presence in the restaurant. The house was once the home of Zoe and Elizabeth St. Amand. Elizabeth died in 1945 and Zoe in 1954. Ever since people have reported seeing Zoe dressed in black wandering the rooms of the house. But the scariest stories say that Zoe appears behind them in the ladies’ bathroom, looking at them in the mirror. Can you imagine?
We dare you to visit the restaurant and tell us if you felt a supernatural entity.
