Fashion lovers unite! Explore the evolution of style at the Lawn Party Exhibit at The Charleston Museum.
One of the most awaited exhibits of 2021 has finally arrived in Charleston. Yes, we’re talking about the Lawn Party exhibit, which explores celebratory fashions from c.1800 to the present, focusing on the joy of getting dressed to be outside.
And it’s arrived at the Charleston Museum at the perfect time. After spending more than a year inside and wearing only comfortable clothes, it’s time to fall back in love with dressing up. Described as a “celebration of getting dressed up for an outdoor party”, prepare yourself to learn more than you’ve ever imagined about style and fashion.
Each section of this exhibition is separated by fiber and it includes scientific and cultural explanations of why certain fabrics and techniques were chosen to make hot-weather clothes. Can you spot any that are still used nowadays?
