Family, freedom, fun, fireworks!
Join 3000 Charlestonians this Saturday, June 19, at the Riverfront Park at the Juneteenth Freedom Fest. The event will be completely free.
Also known as Freedom Day, Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in our country. It’s commemorated on every anniversary of June 19, 1865, when General Order No. 3 proclaimed freedom from slavery in Texas.
Get ready for live performances by musicians, youth poets, and dancers. You will also be able to enjoy Black Art, food, and stands from non-profit organizations and community service vendors. Don’t forget to stay comfortable by bringing your lawn chairs, blankets, and bug spray.
The lineup includes:
Geno Wesley
Black Diamond Band
Ray Singleton
Daniel D
DJ Phat Boi
Jordan Benton
D.A Smalls
Wona Womalan
The event will last all day, taking off at 2 pm and ending at 10 pm with an exciting Grand Fireworks Show.
You can register for free at Juneteenth’s official website. Secret Tip: You can also register for free virtual access if you prefer to see it from home.
