While it has been over a century and a half since Edgar Allan Poe graced us with a work of detective fiction or gothic horror, his legacy lives on. Within the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy, Poe historians will retell four of his most famous stories with a modern twist. The chilling tales feature The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven, Masque of Red Death and The Black Cat.
The American Theater on Upper King Street is the perfect venue for this one-of-a-kind experience, providing a timeless, historic atmosphere. Established in 1942 as the premier movie house in Charleston, the sophisticated venue boasts an intimate lounge and bar, handmade milk-glass chandeliers and a vintage exterior marquee.
Guests will enjoy a 90-minute interactive show as they sip on four complimentary cocktails (non-alcoholic cocktail are also available upon request). Tickets start at $55 and are available to those ages 21 and up.
