The 44th annual Cooper Bridge Run that features a race across the Ravenel Bridge is scheduled for September 25.
Originally planned for March, it was postponed due to COVID-19 reasons.
“We are hopeful that this change will allow for fewer limitations imposed by COVID-19 guidelines now that vaccines have begun to be distributed”, the organizers assured at the beginning of the year.
The Cooper Bridge Run is a classic for Charleston’s tourists and locals. It’s a 10k run or walk that began with the mission to promote a healthy lifestyle.
The 10k scenic course takes runners through Mount Pleasant, over the Cooper River Bridge, and lets them get motivated with amazing views.
The first race was held in 1978 and each year up to 40,000 participants sign up. These are all types of runners, from beginners to professional athletes.
The race is run by a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to giving back to the community with a program to promote health and wellness in local schools as well as 12 local charities.
