Tea and nature lover? If you’re looking for a day trip near Charleston with friends or your significant other, the Charleston Tea Garden is a great option. It’s free, it’s nearby, and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Tour the only tea garden in North America!
Located in the Wadmalaw Island in the heart of the low country, the 127 acre Tea Garden is visited by thousands of people each year. The tour through the gardens lasts only a couple of hours, and they’ll show you their tea production process, plantations and a gift shop. Inside the tea production building, a video-guided tour that starts every 15 minutes explains how tea is made and how each piece of equipment is used.
The Tea Garden also offers a 45-minute trolley ride, which makes a stop at their breathtaking greenhouse. Going through the gift shop at the end is a must. Inside, you’ll find all of the tea-related items you can think of. Don’t forget to take some tea home. Summer will get a whole lot better with homemade iced tea!
